The County Arms Hotel enjoys Employee Appreciation Week
A series of events and activities recognising the contribution staff make to the success of the hotel
 Mon 5th September 2022

The County Arms Hotel & Leisure Club in Birr has hosted their first Employee Appreciation Week to recognise the contribution staff make to the success of the thriving four-star hotel.

Organised by the hotel’s management team, Employee Appreciation Week began on Monday 22nd August with a series of events and activities taking place all week to thank staff for their hard work and dedication during an extremely busy and successful summer season that brought many visitors to the top Midlands hotel.

Activities included fitness classes, bootcamp and Pilates with Collette Hughes, team lead and trainer at The Springs Leisure Club, as well as a special ‘Bring Your Kids To Work’ afternoon where the children of staff members enjoyed a disco, fun games and a kids buffet.

There was fun for the adults too, with six brave employees taking part in a charity ‘Pie-in-the-face’ game, to raise money for Down Syndrome Offaly.

Special lunches took place during the week for each department to bring staff members together in a more fun and relaxed environment to enjoy a delicious meal and celebrate the team’s contribution.

There was even an early appearance from Santa, who dropped in to launch the hotel’s new “All Things Christmas 2022” brochure!

Galway comedian and mental health advocate Stevo Timothy (Farmer Michael) also visited to talk to staff about the importance of looking after mental health and inspiring those gathered with his story of living with a disability from the motorbike accident that left him partially paralysed.

Barry Kennedy, General Manager at The County Arms Hotel, gave staff a business overview, highlighting the many milestones and achievements at the hotel over the past year, including: the opening of The Shaker Room, the hotel’s new vintage-style cocktail bar; the launch of the new Family Suites, already now referred to as “the best family suites in Ireland” by guests; the recent successful launch of The Springs Wellness Suites; and the refurbishment of the Rose Garden Restaurant.

Staff gathered were also informed of further developments planned to take place at the hotel within the next few months and plans to boost sustainability practices at the hotel. The occasion was used to open nominations to join the hotel’s new ‘Green Team’, led by Gabriela Hasselmann, Marketing Executive at The County Arms Hotel. The aim of the Green Team will be to improve the current efforts made by the hotel to become a more sustainable business as well as put an official Sustainability Programme in place.

The first Employee Appreciation Week was also an opportunity to specially commend many members of the hotel team, with hotel chef Jurate Raustyte awarded Employee of the Year. The award was presented by Eoin Garry, owner of The County Arms Hotel.

Employee Appreciation Week at The County Arms Hotel was well-received and will return next year.
