The Kingsley plants a Wildflower Garden in The Lee Fields
Part of their ongoing efforts to increase sustainability across their operations
 Thurs 5th May 2022

Last week, team members from The Kingsley spent an enjoyable morning planting seeds to create a Wildflower Garden in The Lee Fields, adjacent to the hotel. The project is part of The Kingsley’s ongoing endeavours to increase their sustainability efforts and give back to their local community.

Greening efforts are visible across the hotel, as the team strives to improve the hotel’s environmental performance and reduce the environmental impact, in line with their eco mission statement.

The bedrooms are entirely free from single use plastics having switched to high quality refillable bathroom amenities and 100% compostable shower caps and dental kits. Removing all the plastic water bottles and replacing them with reusable glass ones is saving 68,976 plastic bottles annually.

In other areas of the hotel, eco-friendly bamboo pens have been introduced and all daily cleaning products are Environmentally Bio-Friendly Friendly to people, plants and wildlife.

Five beehives have been installed on the hotel rooftop, hosting 5 Queen bees and 250k bees in the height of the summer. The efforts from these bees, combined with the help of The Kingsley Beekeeper, creates The Kingsley Honey.

The Kingsley thanks Cork City Council for their support of the Wildflower Garden project, and the team looks forward to seeing this patch bloom over the coming months.
