The Riverside Park Hotel are delighted to have achieved Age-Friendly Business status, following their completion of the Age Friendly Business Recognition Programme.

Age Friendly Ireland’s Business Recognition Programme is a growing brand that helps businesses to put in place simple, low-cost or no cost changes to become more accessible and welcoming to older customers. The Age Friendly Business status is recognised both nationally and internationally and helps customers to identify age friendly businesses.

The team began the process in November 2021, when HR Executive Áine chosen as the ‘Age Friendly Champion’, for the Riverside Park Hotel and attended the Age Friendly Business workshop in the Enniscorthy Chamber offices.

Following the workshop, the next step was to identify and implement three initiatives that would create a more age friendly environment. As part of this process Áine spoke with guests of the hotel and surveyed some of our customers to get their opinions and feedback. After analysing the feedback and speaking with the management team, the three initiatives implemented into the hotel so far are:

• Team members completed age friendly training in February 2022 with an emphasis on being observant, patient, and friendly to guests
• We have implemented larger print menus that they are easier to read
• We have added clear signage in the hotel’s Carvery area

Having implemented these three ideas into the business Áine was invited alongside our General Manager to attend an awards ceremony in October 2022 where she was presented with the Age Friendly Charter for the Hotel which will be displayed in our reception area.
