Dalata Hotel Group celebrates workplace wellbeing accreditation
Operator awarded The KeepWell Mark and Workplace Wellbeing Charter Accreditation
 Fri 8th December 2023

Dalata Hotel Group Plc, operator of Maldron Hotels and Clayton Hotels, is the first organisation to receive accreditation for its commitment to employee health and wellbeing in both the UK and Ireland. The company has been awarded The KeepWell Mark from IBEC in Ireland and has received Workplace Wellbeing Charter Accreditation in the UK.

With a workforce of 5,500, Dalata is laser-focussed on supporting the health and wellbeing of its people and the company has introduced a number of stand-out initiatives. These include appointing a Group Engagement and Wellbeing Manager and providing an internal platform that signposts resources, support and advice across a range of topics. Areas covered include family, health, and finances in addition to an employee assistance programme.

Staff also benefit from a free wholesome meal each day while flexible working patterns are designed to support working families, those with busy lifestyles and people who want to participate in sport or exercise.

Dalata has plans to ensure that in 2024 each hotel has a mental health first aider. Awareness training will be rolled out to all people managers while wellbeing training will be made available to each team member.

The recognition from both markets comes shortly after Dalata announced an enhanced employee benefits package that allows its people to stay in any of the group’s 53 hotels for just €/£60 a night and enjoy a 50% discount on all food.

Chief People Office, Dawn Wynne said “As Ireland’s largest hotel operator, and one of the UK’s fastest growing, Dalata Hotel Group prides itself on our commitment to a people-first approach that is as welcoming and rewarding to our colleagues as it is to its guests.

“We are delighted to receive this recognition – it is a symbol of our unwavering commitment to the health and wellbeing of our incredible team. The Dalata family is made up of over 91 different nationalities, with each person bringing a unique set of personal and cultural values which really enrich our business and we want to look after and reward them all.

“As we expand our hotel portfolio and enter new markets, our people will always be our priority and we want them to grow with us and benefit from our success. As we say, Dalata is a different way, a better way, and while this is the gold standard for health, safety and workplace wellbeing in the Ireland and the UK, our journey doesn’t stop here. We are committed to continuously improving workplace wellbeing practices across all facets of our business.”

Recognising organisations that put the health and wellbeing of employees at the forefront of company policy, the IBEC KeepWell Mark is an Irish accreditation programme, while the Workplace Wellbeing Charter Accreditation is a UK equivalent.

Companies seeking these accreditations are benchmarked against the charter’s standards that include leadership, attendance management, health and safety, mental health, intoxicants, physical health, healthy eating, environment and sustainability, inclusion and culture. The accreditation process involved a full audit, evidence-based submissions and employee focus groups.
