Last week, in the beautiful setting of the Red Carnation Ashford Castle Hotel, Noreen Monaghan, Accommodation Supervisor at Knock House Hotel, was announced as the IHF Mayo Branch ‘Employee of the Year’.
At the event, shortlisted nominees enjoyed a lavish lunch in the company of colleagues and hoteliers from across the region. IHF President Denyse Campbell and IHF Mayo Branch Chair Darren Madden spoke about the importance of recognising excellence, and keeping teams engaged and motivated with opportunities for career progression and development.

Noreen joined the Knock House Hotel team in 2015 and, despite having no previous experience in the industry, her people skills and leadership qualities immediately shone. Promoted to a Team Leader and subsequently to her current Accommodation Supervisor role, Noreen’s team say that she’s a “go to” person and a credit to the industry.
The team at the Knock House Hotel all wish Noreen the best of luck in the National IHF Employee of the Year Awards which will be announced at the IHF Conference in March.
Under the Awards scheme, each hotel and guesthouse in the country is invited to nominate one employee for their local branch award. An independent judging panel comprising representatives of local Institutes of Technology (IT), or Education and Training Boards (ETBs), as well as members from other IHF branches is responsible for reviewing the nominees and selecting the overall winner.
