Hannah Pike, Receptionist at the Shannon Springs Hotel has been announced as the 23/24 Irish Hotels Federation Shannon Branch ‘Employee of the Year’ at a special awards lunch in the Clayton Hotel Limerick.
Fifteen nominees from hotels and guesthouses across Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary were recognised and celebrated for outstanding contributions to their workplace this year.
Congratulating Hannah on the award, IHF Shannon Branch Chair, Darren Harding said the judges highlighted her professionalism, maturity and adaptability when selecting her as the winner.
Hannah started her hospitality career in the Shannon Springs Hotel’s Accommodation Department in 2021 before moving to the Restaurant and Bar in the summer of 2022, and then to her current role in Reception in early 2023. In each role, Hannah quickly adapted and excelled, increasing her knowledge of the hotel’s various operations and departments. Next September, Hannah plans to apply to the Shannon College of Hotel Management.
IHF Shannon Branch extends its gratitude to the expert judging panel comprised of Bernadette Enright (Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board) and Andrew Keane (Harbour Hotel), who had the difficult job of selecting a winner from the nominees.
The members of the IHF Shannon Branch now wish Hannah the very best of luck as she goes on to represent them at the upcoming National IHF Employee of the Year Awards which will be held during the IHF's Annual Conference in February 2024.
Under the Awards scheme, each hotel and guesthouse in the country is invited to nominate one employee for their local branch award. An independent judging panel comprising representatives of local Institutes of Technology (IT), or Education and Training Boards (ETBs), as well as members from other IHF branches is responsible for reviewing the nominees and selecting the overall winner.
