Dublin’s Mespil Hotel has become the first independent Dublin hotel to be certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’, in the global ‘Great Place to Work’ programme. The prestigious programme, which recognises organisational and employer excellence, aims to help employers to increase productivity, collaboration, engagement and workplace satisfaction.

The Mespil believes the award underlines the value of a career in the hospitality industry, which has many varied opportunities for advancement and career progression.

Commenting, Mespil Hotel Director and General Manager Janet Moore said: “We are extremely proud to be certified as a great place to work and we are very grateful to our wonderful team for their recognition and continued dedication to the hotel. It truly is a celebration and acknowledgement of our team and it emphasises how important it is to us that our team are happy and proud to be employees of the Mespil Hotel.

“The certification, officially awarded to us last month, allows us the opportunity to continue to build, encourage and support our teams heading into a New Year and to further enhance our employees’ experience of working in the Mespil.”

She added that all the team at the Dublin 4 hotel were looking forward to a positive 2023 and said: “Our team are our most important asset and this is clearly evident throughout our guest reviews, both direct and online.”

Located in the heart of beautiful Georgian Dublin and overlooking the Grand Canal, the four-star Mespil Hotel opened its doors in April 1995 and is owned by the Kidney Family. Part of the Lee Hotel Group, it is one of the largest independent hotels in the capital.

Mespil Hotel HR & Training Manager Laura Killeen said the GPTW certification showed there were wonderful career opportunities within the hotel industry.

She added: “As a ‘people’ business, we are very proud of our team who personify our culture of continuous improvement. Our employees embrace teamwork on a daily basis to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment, not only for our guests, but for each other.

“Achieving certification as a great place to work will also allow us to attract new talent to work in the hotel and consider hospitality as a career with vast opportunities. Many paths can be chosen by Mespil team members who wish to develop themselves in the hospitality sector.”
