Curated Weekends by The River Lee showcasing the very best of Cork City
A sustainable weekend curated by Jo Linehan, editor of The Sunday Times Ireland's CLIMATE supplement
 Thurs 4th May 2023

The River Lee have launched Curated Weekends in Cork showcasing the City through the eyes of some of the county’s most creative minds. Jo Linehan, editor of the CLIMATE supplement with The Sunday Times Ireland and the founder of GAFF Interiors, is a long-time friend of The River Lee and the first Cork native to partner with the hotel on their new Curated Weekends in Cork platform.

Jo’s new, comprehensive guide, created through the lens of sustainability, features her hit list for an ideal 48 hour stay in Cork, including a travel and shopping guide with some hidden gems - all based around a low impact stay at The River Lee.

Speaking about her inspiration behind the weekend, Jo says, “my passion for sustainability is deeply rooted in my upbringing in Cork. As a walkable city, bountiful with local food producers and suppliers, craftspeople and brimming with wildlife, biodiversity and history, to simply be in Cork is to reconnect with nature and ourselves. I hope my guide will do just that; help you experience some of the city's most special places and a few lesser-known gems that never fail to fill my cup”.

Included in this bespoke guide are Nano Nagle Place, The Crawford Art Gallery, fashion store Samui, Vibes & Scribes, a haven for book and stationary lovers and the fantastic Blackrock Castle Observatory.

As part of her guide, Jo has created a Weekend Curators: Sustainable Cork 2-night offer. This offer includes a very special early access tour of Nano Nagle Place, the historic city location that details the life of education trailblazer, Nano Nagle. An expert guide will lead you through the award-winning museum housed in Georgian convent buildings, the extensive beautiful walled gardens, the mid-nineteenth-century Goldie Chapel and the early twenty-first-century primary school, all spread over 3.5 acres.

Also included are tickets to Blackrock Castle Observatory, an award-winning science centre and active research observatory, where they aim to have a positive impact on the attitudes towards science, engineering and technology in Ireland. The tickets include access to the Ireland in Space exhibition, a Castle Tour, and a Star Show as well as a donation to Dark Skies Ireland, who raise awareness on the impact of light pollution in Ireland and promote the use of responsible lighting.

Jo Linehan’s Weekend Curators: Sustainable Cork guide with The River Lee is the perfect way to enjoy a low-impact weekend while taking in all that Cork city has to offer.
