ounty Arms Birr, once again hosted its annual Employee Appreciation Week to recognise the contribution its team makes to the success of the thriving four-star hotel.

Organised by the hotel’s HR team, Employee Appreciation Week began on Monday 19th August with a series of events and activities taking place all week long to thank staff for their hard work and dedication during an extremely busy and successful summer season that brought many visitors to the top Midlands hotel.

Activities included morning fitness classes such as Aqua Aerobics, Swim classes, a walking tour of Birr Castle Gardens, a 6km run and a Hang Tough Challenge all facilitated by the team in the Springs Leisure Club.

A large team from the hotel decided to show their appreciation to the town of Birr by volunteering with the wonderful local Tidy Towns group and, in doing so, helped to continue make Birr a beautiful place to visit and live. There was fun and games too, with ten brave employees taking part in a charity ‘Pie-in-the-face’ game, to raise money for Birr First Responders Unit, the hotels charity of the year for 2024.

Barry Kennedy, General Manager at County Arms Birr, stated “it is so important to reward and celebrate our teams’ achievements over the past year. Just 2 years ago we had 60 employees and now we have grown our team to just over 150 hard working team members. Our team spend every single day doing their very best to look after our wonderful guests, so we believe it is equally important to show them how much they are valued and appreciated.”

Employee Appreciation Week concluded with a Summer BBQ and live band in Kelly’s the Green, where the Employee of the Year was announced. This year’s worthy recipient was Deirdre Smyth, the hotels amazing wedding coordinator. Deirdre received an all-expenses paid two-night stay in a 4-star Co. Wexford Hotel.

Employee Appreciation Week at County Arms was well-received and will return next year.
