Slieve Russell Hotel hosts successful interdepartmental swap program
Innovative Initiative Enhances Collaboration and Understanding Among Team Members

lieve Russell Hotel is proud to announce the successful completion of an innovative interdepartmental swap program, developed with the invaluable input from our People & Culture Ambassadors. This initiative, aimed at enhancing collaboration and understanding among our colleagues, saw over 30 team members participating in a unique experience designed to foster a deeper appreciation of the diverse roles within our hotel.

The program allowed team members to spend a day in the life of various departments, including our Gardener & Greenkeeping Team, Accounts Department, People & Culture, Sales, Kitchen, Reception, and Country Club. This hands-on experience provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the daily operations and challenges faced by their peers, significantly enhancing interdepartmental relationships.

Cayla Kelly in Banqueting said “My time in sales has helped me understand the importance of their role in this hotel and how, without them, departments such as the kitchen, foyer, restaurants and C&B wouldn’t have the necessary information to make our functions run smoothly.”

Participants in the program have reported a significant improvement in team dynamics and communication. By gaining insights into the daily experiences of their peers, team members are now better equipped to collaborate and support each other, ultimately enhancing the overall guest experience.

Orla Murphy, People and Culture Manager says "We're thrilled with the incredible success of our recent 'Day in the Life' department swap initiative, which has not only strengthened our team but also deepened our commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences. By gaining hands-on insight into each other’s roles and stepping into each other’s shoes, we are building stronger connections, and fostering greater collaboration and understanding across the hotel. We’re excited to build on this momentum and continue exploring new ways to promote teamwork and unity within our hotel."
