Great National South Court Hotel are pleased to announce the appointment of two exceptional professionals to their team, effective July 2024.
Gary Butterfield – Assistant Food and Beverage Manager
Gary Butterfield joins Great National South Court Hotel as the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager. Gary began his hospitality career at the age of 16 at the esteemed Dromoland Castle, where he progressed from a commis waiter to a sommelier. During his three years at Dromoland, he earned his WSET certification, demonstrating his commitment to excellence.
Following his time at Dromoland, Gary served as Head Sommelier at No. 1 Pery Square for four successful years. He then advanced to Restaurant Manager at the East Room, where he showcased his exceptional leadership and management skills. Gary's extensive experience and passion for the industry make him a valuable addition to the team. He is currently pursuing further certifications with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and the Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS), reflecting his dedication to professional growth and excellence.
Asked about the first week in his new position, Gary said “I am delighted to have joined such a dedicated and driven team at the Great National South Court Hotel. I'm eager to contribute my experience and learn from the many talented hospitality professionals here. I look forward to a rewarding career path as we continue to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests in Off The Bone, The Curry House & the Cream Room Coffee House.”
Sharif Salem – Operations Manager
Great National South Court Hotel are also thrilled to announce the appointment of Sharif Salem as the Operations Manager. Sharif began his hospitality journey at the age of 17 in Limerick, where he developed a passion for the industry. His dedication led him to join the Castletroy Park Hotel team, where he quickly rose through the ranks.
In 2021, Sharif became Assistant Operations Manager at the Midlands Park Hotel. His consistent drive and expertise in food and beverage operations earned him a promotion to Food and Beverage Operations Manager. His leadership and support were instrumental in the hotel's growth and success.
Sharif's extensive experience and commitment to excellence will significantly contribute to the continued success of the Great National South Court Hotel. His ability to inspire and support his team makes him a valuable addition to the management team.
