 Wed 27th Novemeber 2024

Presenter Anne-Vibeke Isaksen; with Aidan O'Sullivan, Irish Wolfhounds Ireland, on Bertra Beach, in Co Mayo.

Images of the Wild Atlantic Way were recently beamed into the homes of over 350,000 people in Denmark, when a special Ireland episode of a popular travel show called Anne-Vibeke Rejser (meaning: ‘Anne-Vibeke Travels’) aired on Danish TV channel DK4. Filming took place here earlier this year and was supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

In the episode, viewers saw presenter Anne-Vibeke Isaksen explore Galway city and enjoy a horse-riding lesson with The Connemara Pony National Stud. She visited Kylemore Abbey, Westport House and Drumcliffe Church. Anne-Vibeke also enjoyed a walk with Irish Wolfhounds Ireland along Bertra Beach and a surfing lesson at the National Surf Centre on Strandhill Beach.

Emer Mac Diarmada, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Nordic Region, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to support the production of this special Wild Atlantic Way episode of Anne-Vibeke Rejser. Viewers across Denmark saw her take in our coastline and city streets, as well as our fantastic scenery, culture, attractions and, most importantly, our local characters.

Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity. The episode was viewed by around 350,000 people, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to inspire travellers in Denmark to put the Wild Atlantic Way on their holiday wish-list for 2025 and beyond.

Presenter Anne-Vibeke Isaksen; with Sheena Dignam, Galway Food Tours, at Little Lane Coffee Company, in Galway city.
